According to the statistics of the excavation and inspection records for the two rods, it is known that if the newly built line is in the general polluted area, the down lead ground wire and the stay rod need to be checked and replaced after 5~7 years and if it is in the heavily polluted area, the service life will be shorter.
Tower down lead ground wire is an important part of the tower lightning arrester, which connects the tower lightning wire with earth wire buried in deep underground.The earth wire is unable to gain access to the rich oxygen, so the corrosion case is not serious, but as a result of down lead ground wire is to connect pole towers above the ground and earth wire buried in the underground,which perennially exposed to contain rich soil moisture and oxygen and air which exacerbated the corrosion situation, so the down lead ground wire between the grounding is the most serious corrosion part of the whole earthing device.
The main cause of corrosion of down lead ground wire and stay rod is serious environmental pollution, accounting for 65%, followed by poor manufacturing process, insufficient galvanized layer or man-made damage and so on.
